The Japanese language courses offered by CJL at Waseda played a crucial role in my progress. I started with basic communication skills but, through these courses, I significantly improved my grammar, vocabulary, and fluency. The comprehensive Japanese course was particularly valuable, as it provided balanced training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, CJL offers theme-based courses focusing on specific skills such as conversation, academic writing, kanji, and business Japanese. These targeted classes helped me strengthen weaker areas and refine my proficiency. Thanks to CJL, I can now confidently communicate in Japanese, whether in casual conversations or professional settings.SILS is Waseda University's flagship school for the globally minded, being the largest scale English-based program. Students aim to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in International Liberal Studies by studying the wide variety of subjects in English.SP2 students must take Japanese language courses offered by the Center for Japanese Language (CJL) and earn the designated number of credits before graduation. Students can use their results of their Japanese level check test or the JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) to waive the number of credits required for graduation, or to be exempted from taking the courses.
