We nurture students to be able to utilize the knowledge they obtained at SILS to flourish on the world stage.Multicultural CommunityLiberal StudiesAPM ProgramAt SILS, students from various countries, regions, and cultures study using English as their shared language. They can take specialized classes in English under faculty members with international backgrounds. In addition to learning English as a language, students can also acquire expertise in various fields.LanguageIn order for students to hone their multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives, SILS classifies its course offerings into seven “clusters” (groups of subjects). A key feature of SILS is the fact that students can build their own studies from a wide range of options, according to their own interests. Students can choose to study across several clusters of subjects, or focus on a specific field of expertise.By learning multiple languages, not just English, it will be possible for students to further broaden their perspectives. The main focus is on interactive classes that promote discussions, excellent communication skills and strong presentation skills. As Statistics and Data Science are the basis for many academic fields, they are mandatory courses. This system allows students to engage in specialized in-depth studies in a single field (Concentration). Upon graduation, students are eligible to receive a certificate of completion in their field.Almost all classes are conducted in English. Students will be immersed in a learning environment that allows them to experience the world while being in Japan, and aim to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in International Liberal Studies.Native Japanese-speaking students are required to study abroad for one year. The credit accreditation system essentially allows students to graduate in four years.English-Based ProgramStudy AbroadSmall Group Education/Introductory Statistics/Introductory Data Science Concentration ProgramLearn about the WorldLearn Broadly and DeeplyLearn in English
