This program has been established to enable them to study specific ones in a structured way. Students who have earned the required number of credits in courses designated by each Concentration (field of study) are eligible to receive a certificate of completion for that Concentration upon graduation. More than 50 students complete Concentrations each semester. From FacultyWhy not consider choosing a concentration?ProfessorHAYAKAWA, YuAt SILS, we actively implement a liberal arts education to cultivate diverse perspectives and foster logical thinking. We provide a broad array of courses, avoiding confinement to specific fields. Simultaneously, students desiring a deeper exploration of specialized areas can opt for one of the currently offered 13 concentrations. By selecting courses from the concentration's course list and achieving the necessary credits, students can acquire a completion certificate for the chosen concentration. Through concentrations, students can acquire foundational knowledge in their chosen field, preparing them for advanced studies in graduate school. Additionally, in job-seeking endeavors, expertise in a particular field becomes an appealing asset, complementing the advantages of a liberal arts education. Why not consider choosing a concentration? From StudentDiscovering my passion through the Concentration Program at SILSKOBAYASHI, AnzuAdmitted in April 2021/Graduate of Homestead High SchoolI chose the SILS program because of its 13 Concentration Programs, which allow students to pursue their interests. As I was uncertain about my future at the time of enrollment, the opportunity to explore my interests while taking a broad range of academic courses was invaluable. I engaged in diverse discussions on human rights and international peace through the Political Economy of International Development program. It became my four-year academic plan to deepen my learning in my interest fields. I proudly recommend incoming students pursue one of the concentration programs for valuable learning experiences and supportive peers with similar interests!Fields of Concentration ProgramConcentration ProgramSystematic and In-depth Learning
