WISH, an internationalized student dormitory, develops attractive programs in an international environment resulting from the mix of students living here. The Live-in House Master and RAs (Resident Assistants), usually comprised of senior university students, also support the students in their new dorm life.A number of scholarships are available for international students, including scholarships offered by Waseda University, scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization(JASSO), and scholarships from private foundations.Waseda University provides a multitude of systems and facilities to help international students enjoy a fulfilling time during their education here. The Center for International Education gives advice in such areas as procedures to obtain status of residence and support for study abroad; the Intercultural Communication Center (ICC) organizes around 200 events a year to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchange among students from Japan and around the world; the Writing Center exclusively offers Japanese and English writing instruction; and the Career Center makes efforts to help international students at all stages of their search for employment. In this manner, students are offered a variety of support services during their stay at Waseda University. Our support also extends to daily life, including the widest range of scholarships in Japan and a good selection of accommodation.Waseda offers over 250 scholarships for international students and Japanese students, including those sponsored by the University itself and ones sponsored by the private sector. While most scholarships are need-based and need to be applied after entering the university, some scholarships such as merit-based can be determined before program enrollment, based on the results of entrance examinations. In 2023, 12,000 students received scholarships, amounting to 7.5 billion yen. About 31% of international students studying at Waseda received some form of financial support in 2023.Waseda University has a number of dormitories, some operated by Waseda and some operated by affiliated organizations or companies. At each dormitory, university students from all over the world live together and enjoy learning and growing through the dormitory's featured programs and events, helping students to establish a network extending beyond their affiliated schools. WISH (Waseda International Student House) is the dormitory for both international and Japanese students with a total housing capacity of 872.
