1235Admissions PolicyCurriculum PolicyStudents in the Master’s Program will acquire a comprehensive understanding of political science research approaches, comprising the empirical analysis, formal models and the normative studies, and use this as a basis for deepening their knowledge of research methodologies essential to their own areas of research. Thereafter, the student will write a Master’s thesis representing the culmination of efforts to develop a multifaceted understanding of his/her own research area as well as other related research disciplines. The Master’s thesis will be evaluated from the perspectives of further development potential and practical applicability for conferral of “Master of Arts in Political Science”. In the Doctoral Program, students must demonstrate mastery of political science in not only their own specialized research area but also at least one other related research area, with coursework in research approaches, academic presentations, and other areas as prerequisites. From this foundation, a doctoral dissertation plan will be formulated. Doctoral candidates will then receive research guidance from the Doctoral Dissertation Committee based on the doctoral dissertation plan. The Doctoral Dissertation will be evaluated as the culmination of this uniform five-year research process beginning with the Master’s Program, for conferral of “Doctor of Political Science”.The master’s program aims to make graduate-level political science education more systematic and advanced and to make the graduate school a locus for disseminating political science research developed in Japan and based on the most cutting-edge political science theories and methods in the world. Thus, a methodology that integrates empirical methods, mathematical analysis, and normative theory is considered the common foundation upon which to provide a system of education and research that is deeply specialized and allows for studying political science from a broad perspective with focuses on the four key research areas of modern politics, political thought and history, comparative politics, and international relations.The doctoral program adds to the capabilities mentioned above that are required to obtain a master’s degree, providing a system of education and research that fosters researchers and specialists equipped with a high degree of general capabilities who can usher in the generation of talent and who engage in cutting-edge research that blazes new paths in international political science as they study the field.The master’s program expects prospective students to have basic social sciences capabilities that make them worthy of receiving methodological education that integrates empirical methods, mathematical analysis, and normative theories, as well as to possess the basic knowledge needed to study political science in a manner that is both deeply specialized and grounded in a broad perspective. In the doctoral program, prospective candidates are expected to have the capabilities needed to obtain a master’s degree, as described above; sufficient specialization to engage in cutting-edge research that can expand the horizons of global political science; and sufficient facility with empirical methods, mathematical analysis, and normative theories.卒業認定・学位授与に関する方針（ディプロマ・ポリシー）Diploma Policy　「政治学コース」では、新たな世界標準の政治学方法論と、日本とアジアについての内在的な理解とを兼ね備えた研究者を養成する。また同時に、マスター・サイエンスとしての政治学の専門知識を身につけて、公正な社会の構築のために社会のさまざまな分野においてリーダーシップを発揮し、秩序あるグローバル社会にむけて、日本とアジアの声を世界に発信することのできる実践的人材の養成を目指す。そのため、修士課程では、経験的方法、数理分析、規範理論からなる政治学研究方法を総合的に修得し、その上で特に自らの研究に不可欠な方法論を深く学んだ後に、自らの研究領域を軸に関連する他の研究領域を複線的に履修した成果として出される修士論文を、その発展可能性と実践的応用性の観点から評価し、「修士（政治学）」の学位を授与する。また博士後期課程では、方法論やアカデミック・プレゼンテーション等のコースワークを前提とし、また自らの専門研究領域および関連する少なくとも１つの他の研究領域に関して、基本的な政治学的知識の習得を求め、それらを基礎に構想された博士論文計画にもとづく論文指導委員会の研究指導を受けることが求められる。このように修士課程からの５年間の一貫した研究プロセスの成果として博士論文を評価し、「博士（政治学）」を授与する。教育課程の編成・実施の方針（カリキュラム・ポリシー）　修士課程は、大学院における政治学教育の体系化と高度化を推進し、世界的においてもっとも先端的な政治学の理論と方法に立脚した、日本発の政治学研究の発信拠点を目指す。そのため、経験的方法、数理分析、規範理論を統合した方法論を共通基盤におき、現代政治、政治思想・政治史、比較政治、国際関係の４つの研究領域を軸として、専門的に深く、同時に広い視野から政治学を学ぶことができる教育・研究システムを提供する。　博士後期課程は、上記の修士号取得に必要な能力の涵養に加え、国際的な政治学の地平を切り開くことのできる先端的な研究に取り組み、政治学を学ぶ次世代の人材を育てる高い総合力をそなえた研究者・専門家を養成する教育・研究システムを提供する。入学受入方針（アドミッション・ポリシー）　修士課程においては、経験的方法、数理分析、規範理論を統合した方法論教育を受けるに値する基礎的な社会科学の能力、専門的に深く、同時に広い視野から政治学を学ぶための基礎知識が求められる。　博士後期課程においては、上記の修士号取得に必要な能力を備え、かつ国際的な政治学の地平を切り開くことのできる先端的な研究に取り組むだけの専門を持ち、経験的方法、数理分析、規範理論における十分な能力を有していることが求められる。政治学研究科政治学専攻 政治学コース ３つのポリシーThree Policies of the Political Science Major of the Graduate School of Political Science
