But they have also resulted in harm to the global environment, creating social and economic disparities, and causing major problems relating to the loss of personal identity, purpose, and inter-personal communication. Educational Innovation and Communication Studies (EDICS) is an emerging field of study that explores methods of educating and communicating with people in order to identify and solve such problems. In the EDICS program, students present their research projects along with contemporary social and educational problems they wish to solve, and engage in lively exchanges of ideas. In addition, through diverse courses offered at EDICS such as cognitive science, educational psychology and internet science, students can learn key theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and research skills that are needed to plan and conduct their research projects. While delving deeply into their own research topics, they will be able to acquire the cross-disciplinary and wide-ranging knowledge and skills needed to solve these problems. We are confident that the EDICS program will enable committed students to work towards finding new solutions to increasingly new challenges for humankind.Associate Professor /Program Coordinator of EDICS Eriko Sugimori, Ph.D.Graduate School of Human SciencesMaster’s Program
